Croft Circuit confirms 2013 motor sport calendar

North Yorkshire’s Croft Circuit has today finalised its calendar of motor sport fixtures for 2013 with the star-studded Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, its own historic Nostalgia meeting, the Monster MSA British Rallycross Championship finale and Grand Prix plus the Roger Albert Clark Rally headlining the list of high-profile events.

In all, Croft will attract ten more action-packed motor sport meetings to the North East region this year, the first of which takes place this coming weekend (27/28 April) with a busy and highly entertaining programme of 16 races for fans to enjoy.

Tickets for all events are now on sale with various discounts on offer and, with families in mind, the Croft Circuit has once again committed to its long-standing policy of FREE admission for accompanied children aged 15 and under.

Furthermore car parking remains free and access to the main competitors’ paddock – offering the public the chance to rub shoulders with the star drivers and see the cars up close – is included with admission.

Ticket prices plus more details about Croft Circuit and its events are available on the www.croftcircuit.co.uk website or by calling the main circuit office on 01325 721815.

As the summer unfolds the highlights undoubtedly include:

  • the BTCC with its big names such as Plato, Neal, Shedden and Turkington, bumper-to-bumper racing and live national TV coverage
  • Croft’s own unique Nostalgia weekend, featuring historic motor sport and a backdrop of Forties-Seventies music and fashion, WWII encampments, classic and vintage motor shows plus air displays
  • Rallycross’s title-deciding British championship finale plus ‘blue riband’ Grand Prix for 550bhp ‘Supercars’ on gravel and asphalt
  • the Roger Albert Clark Rally, a recreation of the marathon Lombard RAC rallies with many original iconic cars (Ford Escort MK2, Lancia Stratos, Vauxhall Chevette, Porsche 911 etc)

However, for 2013 Croft has also attracted for the first time both Time Attack, for 1000bhp modified cars up against the clock and boasting a rapidly increasing fanbase, and Special Saloons – a revival of the outrageous Seventies’ V8 category using single-seater spaceframe chassis cloaked in look-alike road car bodies.

Croft also remains the spiritual home to Britain’s best-subscribed club-level motor racing championship – the Darlington & District Motor Club’s Northern Saloons & Sports Car category – which, with its capacity grids, will visit four times between now and September.

Croft Circuit Manager Tracey Morley commented: “What a line-up we have in store for 2013. Our four big headline events which continue to prove so popular with hardened enthusiasts and also the public at large remain, while we have also made our national-level events even bigger, better and more exciting with some truly great additions.

“As in recent years we are also delighted to continue out free admission for children policy. Much of our audience is family-orientated and, in the current climate in particular, it is important to offer families a great day’s entertainment at affordable prices. In the meantime we very much look forward to welcoming all public, competitors, organising clubs, media and marshals in 2013.”
