Ford F100 Pick-up (Third Generation)
| ![CDATA[ There is no doubt that the Ford Pick-up occupies a special place in the psyche of the American male. Introduced in 1948, the F100 launched a love affair with this handsome utility vehicle that has lasted right up until today. First sold in a number of different configurations, the Pick-up was always the best seller. The next generation, from 1953 to 1956, had better engines and increased dimensions. The cab was also improved with a wraparound windscreen, new dashboard and even seatbelts. Optional of course. The third generation was, again, modernised and redesigned. Front bumpers were now integrated and the new ‘Styleside’ bed continued the smooth lines through to the rear.
The current engine powering this striking example is a fully rebuilt 1972 Mustang, five litre unit by Huddart, now converted to run with an automatic gearbox and ‘Lockyer ‘ C3 transmission. Retardation comes in the form of power brakes with a custom built stainless steel exhaust also running beneath the car. Offered without reserve, bidding should be hot for this cool cat.]]
