At "Parco Valentino Classic" Bertone and Pininfarina to Feature Prominently


 

Turin is preparing to host from 19 to 23 June the fifth edition of the Motor Show - Valentino Park that will take place along the avenues of what was the circuit of the Valentino Formula One Grand Prix, where legendary drivers such as Ascari, Villoresi, Farina and Fangio competed in the past.

One of the most interesting new features of this year's edition will be the Concours d’Elegance for vintage cars "Parco Valentino Classic", organized by Auto Classic in collaboration with the communication agency Between.

The cars in the Competition will line up in Piazza Vittorio Veneto on the morning of Saturday, June 22, where the public will be able to see at work the Jury chaired by Paolo Tumminelli (Car Historian) and Andrea Levy (President of Motor Show Valentino Park) and composed of Paolo Pininfarina (Vice President ASI), David Giudici (Director Ruoteclassiche), Luciano Bertolero (Ferrari Expert), Alberto Vassallo (CEO Car & Vintage), Sandro Binelli (Car Historian), Enrico Renaldini (Co-Founder Gare d'Epoca) and Shayan Bokaie ( Director of Digital Petrolicious)  

The judges will have the not easy task of electing the best car in competition among authentic pearls of rare beauty as the prototypes made by Bertone and brought to the race directly by the ASI and the Bertone Register. Even the great Giorgetto Giugiaro will participate in the Competition with a prototype he made for Bertone in 1963, the "Designer of the Century" will in fact be behind the wheel of the legendary Corvair Testudo made revived after a long sleep right for Parco Valentino Classic, which also represents the first Cpncours d’Elegance in which it participates in the history of this car.

Fabrizio Giugiaro will participate in the Competition with a car designed by his father Giorgetto, we are talking about the Mangusta the futuristic gran turismo made by De Tomaso in 1968.

Among the more than thirty cars in the Concorso deserves a special mention the Cisitalia 202 Pininfarina by collector Gino Coen who has triumphed in the last two Concouurse of Elegance organized in Turin by ASI (2017) and Pininfarina (2016).

To represent Pininfarina again in this Competition, which increasingly looms as a duel between design giants, there will be the Fiat 8V unique specimen of the Righini Collection that, with Max Stancari at the wheel, will return to the city where he saw for the first time the light in the far back in 1953.

The other cars in the competition signed Pininfarina are Piermario Cornaglia's Dino 246 GT, Davide Schiffer's Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Veloce, Maximilian Kappa's Lancia Aurelia B24, Carlo Brignone's Fiat Dino Spider, Nino's Alfa Romeo 2500 6C Cabriolet Manzoni, Bruno Bonis' Lancia Astura Convertible and Marco Utili's Ferrari 512 BB, winner of the "Chairman's Award" at the 2016 Alassio Classic Concours d’Elegance and awarded directly by Paolo Pininfarina to the well-known Turin entrepreneur.

A final duel between Bertone and Pininfarina will be the one staged by Marcello Delfini's Lancia Stratos and Edoardo Cornaglia's Lancia 037.

Giorgio Vinai behind the wheel of the Siata 8V Spider already winner at the Poltu Quatu Classic Concours d’Elegance in 2018, will compete for the class victory with the Maserati 200 S by Alfredo Stola, an extraordinary car preserved in original condition, and the AC Ace Bristol of the President of the Italian Fiat Register Edoardo Magnone.

Another debut in the Concorso is the participation of the newly formed Gino Macaluso Foundation, which will bring to the race a stunning Mercedes 300 SL "Ali di Gabbiano" with Stefano Macaluso, son of the unforgettable entrepreneur and collector from Turin.

Reduced by the "Mention of Honour" won at Villa d'Este, the Japanese artist Hidetomo Kimura, organizer of the Kyoto Concours d’Elegance, will present to the audience of the Turin event his beautiful OSCA MT4  made by Frua.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Stola, Auto Classic will provide Maria Paola Stola Ariusso with the Fiat Dedica designed by Aldo Brovarone, the first prototype ever made by the historic Turin car company with its own brand in 1996.

There will be a total of six Classes of the Parco Valentino Classic Concours d’Elegance:

  • Matter Of Style: Design Icons
  • Art on the Move: The Magnificent Coupes
  • Gentleman Driver: Sport Cars for Racing and Grand Soiree
  • Carriages with Engines: The Big Cabriolet
  • Italian Thoroughbreds: Gran Turismo Made in Italy
  • La Dolce Vita: A Spider for the Summer

The Best in Show Trophy, will be made as for the other eventes organized by Auto Classic and Between by the GFG Style of Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro.

The prizes for the winners of the six classes of the Concorso were created by the Italian Fiat Register, Gare d'Epoca, Automotoretrò, Autoemotodepoca, Milano Autoclassica and Modena Motor Gallery

Finally, two special prizes made by ASI and Motor Show Valentino Park will be awarded.

At 12.30 pm the cars will start in a parade passing via Via Roma to arrive in the Courtyard of the Valentino Castle where at 14.30 will take place the parade and the award ceremony in front of the public and the Jury.

The award-winning cars will then be displayed along the main avenue of the Valentino Park in order to be admired by visitors to this very rich edition of the Turin Motor Show.

Simone Bertolero will present the event aboard the legendary Fiat 500 Beach made in 1958 by Boano for the Advocate Giovanni Agnelli. Joining him in this first edition of the Parco Valentino Classic Concours d’Elegance will be the journalist Savina Confaloni, one of the most appreciated and well-known faces in the car world.
