First held in 1996, the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance is an annual automotive exposition held at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island oceanfront property and on the manicured 10th and 18th fairways of The Golf Club of Amelia Island. It celebrates the automobile’s vast contribution to transportation and society through a number of related events.

Amelia’s theme centers each year on the career of a racing personality; past honorary chairmen have included greats from all forms of racing (Formula One, Group C, NASCAR, Indy Car, Sprint Car), including Sir Stirling Moss OBE, Phil Hill, Dan Gurney, Carroll Shelby, Johnny Rutherford, Bobby Allison, Parnelli Jones, Richard Petty, Vic Elford and Sam Posey. In 2021 The Amelia will honor Lyn St. James and feature The Cars of Lyn St. James . Automotive features include Hispano-Suiza, Porsche 935, Chevy Thunder, Ferrari 275 GTB, 1970s Muscle Cars, It's Electric, Supercars of the 80s and 90s and Shadow.

Weekend activity highlights include Friday's Reliable Carriers Eight Flags Road Tour, Saturday's Cars & Coffee at the Concours and Sunday's award-winning Concours d'Elegance.

Regarded today as one of the premiere concours in the United States, the Amelia is one of the most innovative events of its kind due to its eclectic classes of vehicles, unique themes, and educational seminars. Past features have included “Promotional Vehicles,” “Indy 500 Pace Cars,” and “The Legends of Can-Am.” The seminar series, which has welcomed numerous racing legends to the podium, has become especially popular with standing-room-only crowds and extensive media coverage within the U.S. and in Europe. The Amelia draws collectors, media, sponsors, and spectators from both the national and international communities, and the show is opened each year with the arrival of the honoree piloting one of his race cars onto the field – further reinforcing the show’s eclectic nature. The Amelia was the first concours to institute two best in show awards: Concours d’Elegance & Concours de Sport, which recognize the top traditional vehicle and top racing vehicle, respectively.
