The Ferrari 225 Export was powered by a 2.7 liter which produced 212 bhp at 7,200 rpm. 20 cars carried Vignale body work, 1 was wearing a barcheta body by Touring.
The 225 Sport was raced by private teams winning major events. Pierre Boncompagni "Pagnibon" won, Montlhery, Nimes. Antonio Brivio Sforza won his class in the 1952 Mille Miglia. In 1952 the GP Monaco was open only for sportscars the GP was won by Vittorio Marzotto. Pietro Palmieri won 5 hillclimbs. Roberto Bonomi finished 1st OA in the Buenos Aires Sports Car Race, Jean Lucas won several french races. Eugenio Castellotti finished 1st in the GP of Portugal and won the Trofeo Sardo. Dr. Augusto Caraceni won the Italian Hill Climb Championship, Paolo Marzotto the demanding Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti, Giro della Calabria and Circuito di Senigallia. Count Sterzi contributed his share to the 225 S success story 3 more OA wins at the Coppa della Toscana, Bolzano-Mendola hillclimb and the Coppa InterEuropa, Monza. Edmund P. Lunken added US success with a win in Janesville, this car was raced in Sebring and in Road America 500 this was in a barn fire and was several years later cut in half and dumped in a ravine. Bobbie Baird brought home the UK laurels and in the follwoing this car won in Mendoza driven by Carlos Lostaló.
