Known History

2152/5000

In 1967, Alfa Romeo decided to start the study for the coupÚ, which will replace the "Giulia GT" model in the 1970s. The main business guidelines are to create a car that can offer four comfortable seats (instead of the traditional 2 + 2) with a good sized luggage compartment. The aim was to combat the competition of compact sports sedans, offering similar performance and increased versatility of use, were gaining considerable success throughout Europe.

Starting from the mechanical base of the "Giulia GT" in 1968, he was given the task of the new design for Giorgetto Giugiaro's "newborn" Italdesign, in view of the fact that this designer had followed the birth and development of Giulia GT during the years he worked at Bertone. The end result was a bodywork with the volumes shifted backwards and the tail truncated.

In 1980, the GTV6 was launched, equipped with a 6-cylinder V V-60 and 2492 cc cubic capacity, with a power output of 160 hp to 6000 rpm, a camshaft for bank and electronic injection.

In 1981, it was produced in 650 copies, progressively numbering the "Grand Prix" version to celebrate the return of Alfa Romeo in Formula 1. The interiors are modified with: gray velvety velvet, red carpet on the floor, exemplary on dashboard, leather steering wheel. And also aesthetics: red color only, front bumper, rear bumper, front aileron and exterior rearview mirror in tint with bodywork, plus tires.

In 1983, a small number of GTV6 Grand Prix 2.5 were produced: they were special specimens for Switzerland, France, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, with a Lester-style aesthetic kit in the colors: red, black and silver. written in identification sticker.

In 1984, only for Germany, 100 specimens of the GTV6 Grand Prix were produced, without number plate, without side bands, with gray striped velvet interior and with a dashboard different from the Italian ones.
