The DB6 was the last evolution of the stunning original DB series of Astons and is often regarded as the most practical and usable of all the 60's Astons. Whilst clearly main styling changes from the DB5 were the reappearance of opening front quarter lights and the arrival of a Kamm-style tail with spoiler which greatly improved the aerodynamics by enhancing stability at high speeds. The Motorsport road-test remarked that 'The tail lip halves the aerodynamic lift around maximum speed compared to the DB5 and brings in its train greater headroom and more luggage space,' The other great advantage of the DB6 is the increased rear legroom which makes it possible to carry passengers comfortably. DB6s were available with the choice of an Automatic or Manual 5 Speed gearbox. The DB6 was a highly fashionable car to be seen in, famous owners including HRH Prince Charles, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Twiggy and Peter Sellers.
This particular example was supplied new to the Eton Motor Group of Windsor on the 21st March 1966 via H.R.Owen with the hugely desirable Vantage specification engine from factory, along with chrome wheels and heated rear screen. It would remain with them as the company demonstrator until it was sold to its first private owner Mr John Winter Jackson just one year later. A superb maintenance record was kept during its early spell of life with the accompanying history file containing service invoices and MOTs from as early as 1970. Having remained in the United Kingdom until 1989, it was purchased by Dr Ricardo Rafael Chin A Pauw of Farnham Common who would continue to own the car for a 13 year period. During this extensive spell, Dr Pauw would relocate to both Germany and the Netherlands. On his travels he would continue the cars most fastidious maintenance record and the colour was changed to Aston Martin Racing Green.
Its next owner Mr Gary Neil Steward purchased the car via dealer for the sum of £49,500.00 and the part exchange of his own DB6 #DB6/4003R. In typical fashion for this car, Mr Steward up kept the superb maintenance record once more until it was sold to Mr David Fox in July 2005. Mr Fox would remain the owner until May 2013, when it was purchased by Mr Roger A Clark of Sudbury, Suffolk, still presenting in British Racing Green. In 2014 Mr Clark embarked upon a comprehensive restoration using marque specialists Classic & Sports Cars of Essex. During this work the body was carefully taken back to bare metal before being painted in the stunning colour of Pacific Blue, as it presents today. The interior was equally addressed and re-trimmed. Its current owner purchased the car from Mr Clark and has since stored it in his own dedicated storage facility amongst a vast collection of other exceptional motor vehicles.
Today this stunning DB6 is presented absolutely on the button, ready to be enjoyed by its next owner immediately. Supplied with its hugely desirable and original Vantage specification engine from factory and accompanied by a most comprehensive file, this DB6 features 4 volumes of history, receipts, the original “Buff” log book and remarkably its original instruction book, parts catalogue and workshop manual. This unrepeatable example is available to view at our showrooms located just outside of London immediately.
