About this Car:
In November 1958 Fiat showed a new version of their very pretty Pinninfarina designed and built convertible but this one had a new engine. Fiat has been building the 1100, then 1200 Cabriolet since 1955, but then needed a more powerful engine for the car to be considered a sports car and to compete with Alfa Romeo's Giulia. They enlisted Dante Giacosa to meet with Ernesto Maserati to come up with a new engine, the Fiat Osca 1500 GT. Officine Specializzate Construzione Automobili (OSCA), the Maserati brothers company had been building a very successful twin cam-based engine for their MT4 sports racer. The relationship benefited both parties; Fiat got a new 100 hp twin cam and OSCA got the manufacturing facilities of Fiat. 3,089 examples were built in both coupe and convertible configuration. Built by Pininfarina alongside the 250 GTE Ferraris. You can notice the resemblance. There are a lot of interchangeable trim parts with Pinninfarina cars of that era.
Early cars were drum brakes all around and fronts had twin brake cylinders. Other changes include 8,000 rpm tach, 15" 5 lug wheels, Nardi steering wheel, and larger hood scoop. The cars also featured a passenger folding foot brace in footwell and a center hand brace.

This car came out of Washington state. It was raced early in its life by Ed Mantz. He bought the car in 1974 from D. Donnie. The Car has extensive service records all through 70's, 80's, 90's.. and the early 2000's. It stayed in the Mantz family with their son Scott until 2009. Then it was purchased by Jeff McCay who restored the car back to its original specs. New paint, chrome, interior, carpets, new rubber mats, and also went through the car mechanically . A local California collector purchased the car from his friend Jeff McCay in 2016. Since that purchase the car has had the engine bay detailed, new fuel pump, fuel system cleaned, oil change and new battery installed. It runs, drives and is ready for a new home. These are great cars for enjoying the summer weather with the top down and sun kissed skin.
