RM Sotheby’s is to host The House That Newman/Haas Racing Built—the largest single collection of important open-wheel racecars ever offered at auction—this week. Forty-three cars, eight of which contributed to championship-winning seasons, will cross the block. The sale will take place at the Newman/Haas Racing headquarters in Lincolnshire, Illinois, on 29 October 2022.

One of just five examples of the Lola T800 built, the 1984 Lola-Cosworth T800 was delivered new to Newman/Haas Racing for the 1984 CART PPG IndyCar season and was a significant contributor to Mario Andretti’s 1984 CART championship season. It was the winner of the 1984 Meadowlands Grand Prix and the 1984 Mid-Ohio 200. It boasts an advanced design featuring carbon fiber bodywork over an aluminum-honeycomb tub and is equipped with a powerful turbocharged Cosworth Ford DFX engine. It is a thoroughbred from one of IndyCar’s best-known and most successful American race teams and would be a sensational addition to any racing-focused collection (Estimate: $500,000 - $800,000).
Driven by Nigel Mansell to four of his five victories in the 1993 season, and with three poles, the 1993 Lola-Ford Cosworth T93/00 offered here helped make Mansell the only simultaneous reigning champion of IndyCar and Formula One. Accompanied by workshop manual, laptop, electronic spares kit, championship hat, commemorative £2 coin, and Newman/Haas ephemera, and equipped with a potent turbocharged, dual-overhead-camshaft Ford Cosworth XB V-8, this car is one of the most significant racecars of the 20th century and is surely worthy of a place of honor in any collection (Estimate: $400,000 - $900,000).
